It's here!
I've kept super quiet about this project, because honestly? I was pretty nervous. This was one of those that I almost scrapped several times. Will people like it? Will they read it? Will my urban fantasy audience read sci-fi?
Guess we're gonna find out.
I am so excited to announce that my adult sci-fi debut, RISE, will be hitting Amazon on the 26th January 2023. There's no preorder just yet, but it'll be going live in December.
In the mean time, here's the blurb:
*
I don’t like new people. They come into our town and don’t know the rules. They get up in our business. They mess things up.
That’s why when James Maddock walks into my bar, I’m suspicious. He might act like a nice guy, but for sure he spells trouble.
And that’s the last thing I need just when I’ve got my life on track.
All I want is to keep my sister safe, but suddenly, my tentative peace with the local gang, the Iron Fists, is exploding. People I thought I could trust are turning out to be enemies in disguise, and people I was certain were dangerous seem to want me on their team. I don’t know where to turn. I don’t know who is a friend and who a foe.
What I do know is this: when the dust settles, the only person I can rely on to have my back… is me.

I've had RISE knocking around in my head for a really long time, so it's really exciting to see it finally come to life. I can't wait for you to meet the main character, Harley, and follow her through all her shenanigans in a post-apocalyptic small town.
The cover was designed by Miblart. They did a seriously fantastic job on it. I couldn't be more pleased.
I'll be updating when the pre-order goes live. That's all for now!

You guys... it is finally here!
Woohoo!
Okay, okay, this blog post is going up two days late, and that's totally my fault because I [forgot] have been frantically busy with book launches 'n stuff. But anyway, it's here now.
I present to you: Wicked Blood.
Wicked Blood is the standalone sequel to Wicked Magic. In Wicked Magic, we followed Nathan, teenage vampire hunter, who got himself into magical shenanigans and thusly ran afoul of his highly principled parents. It was a blast to write, and so far readers have really enjoyed it.
I like writing magical tales where everyone is already in the know, because it leaves me room to spin complex plots and develop all the intricate details of the worldbuilding. In that spirit, I decided that book two had to tell the story of one of the side characters in book one, and that character practically danced about waving her hand in the air and shouting, "Pick me!"
That's right, it's Cynthia, shapeshifter extraordinaire. Her family was on the run for her entire life, and she had never met her father. In book two, we'll be hopping over to Berlin, where she travels after finishing school. It doesn't take her long to get in way over her head. There's a bit of romance, a supernatural mystery, and a tonne of Berlin culture. I loved writing it, so much so that I didn't want it to end. In fact, I almost snatched my mum's tablet out of her hand and rewrote the ending before she could read it... but that's another story.
And don't forget to pick up your copy of Wicked Magic. Both books can be read as standalones, so you're welcome to read Wicked Blood first, but I guarantee you both are a super fun read.
See you in the next post,
Margot
Hello folks!
This has been an exciting few weeks, so let's jump right in.
I'm proud to annnounce the release of a super-secret project I've been working on. LONDON SUCKS is a short story set in the Vampires of Oxford Universe. If you've been wondering...
- How did Lily come to live with Damien?
- Why is Damien such a pouty jerk around the Vampire Council?
- What mysterious incidents led up to the formation of the Council as we see in WICKED MAGIC?
...then this is the prequel for you.
BUT!
This prequel will not be available on Amazon. For the foreseeable future, it is exclusively available--FOR FREE--to my subscribers. So subscribe now to get ahold of it and find out about Lily, Damien, Jeremiah, Ayotunde, and many more.
Already a subscriber? Don't worry, you'll be getting an email about it very soon.
Until then,
Margot
We abide by three laws in our community. One: Never reveal the existence of supernaturals to human beings. Two: Never take the life of a human. Three: The Council’s authority is absolute.
Damien has roamed the Earth alone for over eight hundred years. An ancient vampire, he governs London—unofficially—and keeps himself safe via judicious application of violence.
Life is uncomplicated. Until one day a phone call changes everything.
Damien has a daughter.
In a moment of weakness, he ends up stuck with a nine-year-old child who can’t fend for herself at all. With enemies circling, all of whom would use her against him, Damien must figure out how to keep her safe. Does he trust the Council, with whom he has a tenuous truce? Or Adrian, the enigmatic hunter-turned-vampire who works for him? Or does he fight this battle the way he has fought every other battle in his long life: alone?
But death and danger are never far away in Damien’s life. When an attack at a Council meeting on his territory threatens to destabilise his careful peace, Damien finds himself facing the worst battleground of all: politics.
Can Damien protect his daughter from the evil that haunts him? He can’t even seem to protect her from the everyday dangers of growing up in the twenty-first century!
